Here are some fun ideas for you or your family to use on a rainy
day - or any day you need a little fun!
Craft: Tooth Fairy Pillow and Poem
Homemade Gift Idea: Handprint Kit and
Poem
Craft: Homemade Rubber Duckie Soaps
CRAFT: TOOTH FAIRY PILLOW AND POEM
Every mother and child knows the importance of leaving those
precious teeth out for the tooth fairy.
PILLOW: Cut a tooth shape out of white felt (double layer)
about 8" or larger if you prefer. Stuff this slightly with
Poly-Fil (so it still lays sort of flat). On the front of the
pillow (tooth) sew a tiny pocket to insert tooth. You can embroider
a name or initial on it, or use fabric paint (test the paint on
a scrap piece before you use it to see how it reacts with the
felt)..
BAG: Another very simple idea would be to make a small
drawstring bag and decorate it. Put the tooth inside, then place
under pillow!
POEM: This is a cute poem to leave under your pillow for
the tooth fairy:
When your tooth begins to wiggle
just give it a little tiny jiggle
pull it out and place it here
and soon the Toothfairy will be near.

HOMEMADE GIFT IDEA: HANDPRINT/FINGERPRINT
POEMS
Here a few good poems to use with the handprints or fingerprints
you make with fingerpaints or one of those plaster kits you can
purchase from any craft store.
Sometimes you get discouraged,
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But every day I'm growing,
I'll be all grown up someday,
And all those little handprints
Will surely fade away.
So, here's my final handprint
Just so you can say
This is how my fingers looked
2000 on Mother's/Father's/Birth Day.
Love, ____________________
Another variation of the last stanza could be:
So, here's my final handprint
Just for you to recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small.
Happy Mother's/Father's/Birth Day
Love,____________________

CRAFT: RUBBER DUCKIE SOAPS
What fun! Create fun soap toys for the bath, or to spruce up a
dull spot in your favorite bathroom.
What You Will Need:
1 Bar of Glycerin soap (usually yellowish and transparent)
A soap mold or other suitable container like a small round dish
A plastic Rubber Duck
Instructions: Begin by melting the block of soap down in a
double boiler (pan in pan of water) method, and as soon as it
liquifies, pour it into a mold and place the rubber duckie half
in and half out. This will make it look like its sitting in water
and looks really cute. You can add food coloring and fragrant
oils just prior to pouring into the mold if you prefer. Let harden
overnight - and then have lots of bathtime fun! Other water resistant
toys like spiders or dinosaurs work too, but be careful not to
use anything that will melt or which you wouldn't want to be taken
in the bath for play.
